Datapad Updates and New HUD

Alongside working on the ArcCW V2 update the Dev Team have been working on a number of RP enhancement features, some which have already been rolled out and others still being worked on. One of these projects was an expansion of the role of the RDV Datapad, to include a Hostile Scanner, Arrest Report System and Defcon System, all being able to be accessed only be the appropriate jobs. A summary of the different systems can be seen below

Hostile Scanner

A physical hostile scanner for 327th, using the RDV Datapad. It is accessed controlled so only engineers can start a scan and it uses the number of active NPC's and EE's on the map. (It will take longer than in the video for a scan to complete)
In future updates there are plans to: Update the UI, Increase Interactivity

Arrest Report System

An ingame arrest report system for CG. In its current state it will automatically generate a RFA via the RDV Datapad and create a release message and then notify/ping the arresting officer to release the prisoner.
In future updates there are plans to migrate the arrest log onto the system.

Defcon System

New Defcon System, controlled either by: RDV Datapad, Defcon Control Console, Defcon Command by authorised jobs. Defcon is displayed in the top right of the HUD alongside a short description/command related to that Defcon level (For example Defcon 1: Evacuate). Defcon changes will also emit a sound, linked to the Defcon level being changed to (Alarm, Ping, etc)

New HUD

Following on from the new Defcon system, we are introducing a new HUD to replace our old one. While our old one was nicely stripped back and simplistic it had some major scaling issues and we feel this new HUD is nicer looking and functions better.

These updates/features are only the first "wave" of enhancements we are planning to make, with more to be showcased and released down the line. We hope to roll out the above changes soon however there are still some final adjustments that need to be made.

If you have any suggestions, questions, etc please just reply to this thread.

idk if this will get deleted asap but is there any chance the Hostile scan could have some mini game or challenge? looks a bit bland but could have some cool promise if there's a small interaction thing with it

Yes, as stated in the post we do hope to add some more interactivity down the line

who is gonna get the datapads? just the people who use them or everyone, if everyone gets one we can do stuff like messaging or sharing "RP entries"

I just watched 5times how you missed the second droid! Anyway really cool thing i like the hostile scan and just more things added to database i wanna ask what jobs you can imagine are possibly getting this as i would love to have it as medic to maybe do RP logs in it!

Since they are similar will answer both at the same time, atm Datapads will only be given to people who have explicit functionality for them, so Fleet, 327th, CG, etc.

I do want to add some functionality for Medics in the future, eg Specific Medic Logs, Procedure Guides/Reports etc. But I want some supporting systems to be fixed before we start working on them.

Looks really good! It'll be nice to have a more functional use for the datapad and the defcon system being included on the fleet datapads will add a level of immersion.

Question with the Defcon system though, will it still have the / commands incase something goes wrong with the datapad etcs?

the only thing I can think of that might make it broken is when staff place droids in walls and the floor because we love those.
Ye I am aware this could be a potential issue, we have been discussing ways with Staff to hopefully ensure this doesn't happen (that often anyway)

Will this HUD allow medics to see peoples HP?
Not currently, the overhead "nametag" system will not be changing

Why do I even write announcements, but yes there is a command which can be used if the Datapad isn't working, or for any units who may be OD without datapad access. There will also be a console in the CC which can be used as well.
