This mainly goes for staff applications.

Suggestion: Make it so people need to leave a reason for their - or + support. Mainly for the - support.

I only see people commenting if they + support. Im just questioning if people have guts enough to tell someone how to improve with their name next to it.

Reason for Suggestions: With the current voting system you can just - support someone without leaving a comment.

I believe this is somewhat unfair for the person applying as they have no clue why people are - supporting them. This way they have no idea how to improve or get proper feedback for maybe wanting to apply again.

I see some applications with 15 - votes with 0 comments and I think that is unfair.

Take this as a suggestion or maybe a heads up to comment what your thinking of a person instead of just - voting cause you don't like them.

How it used to be that the voting would just be done by the comments - or + supporting and people would just quote one another if they agree with the reasons.

I agree that this voting system comes in handy but with these type of applications its very hard for someone to actually improve. You just want them to stay like the way they are or you want to help m?

I totally agree, mostly I only see people who are "popular" on the server getting me the most support and likes, since of course Mr. Popular is getting more likes than the newcomer in the community. It would make it easier for the staff team to actually get good feedback on people, instead of it being a popularity contest.

-1, at the end of the day seniors get the final say so the vote is simply there to voice your opinion, doesn't matter how many up votes a post gets.

of course the popular people are getting the most support, these people are well known and liked throughout the community and therefore trusted with getting something as powerful as staff, its that simple. Of course randy rando who started playing MVG is going to get his staff app laughed off the forums because no one knows who they are. Same goes for annoying people not getting staff, no one wants them to have that power

The "voting" system doesn't mean anything, just like the reactions don't. I don't know how staff actually vote on apps, but I'm pretty sure it wont be based off of forums votes and likes.

I mean the idea is there, but sometimes the -supports would turn out to be quite negative and hurtful to see. I know people are more likely to down vote if its anonymous and to be more brutally honest, if you forced each one of those -15 supports to write something down they are very likely to change their view because in the end they personally don't want to be held accountable. The decision is more likely to be more honest if they simply don't have to post the negativity, and honestly saying I can assume that most of the -1's are usually either they don't know the person (meaning the person hasn't got themselves known enough in the community) or they just have a bad reputation with them and feel like if they would be given such powers it would turn out badly.

And yes the popular guys got the advantage, but at one point they weren't all that. They built their way up and that's how it goes, it's never random.

And this is the main point, in the end I believe every applicant is voted and decided by staff so in the end the +support / -support doesn't change much. It might get put into consideration or brought up but in the end I assume those staff would be able to get a fair vote for everyone.

if it hasn't changed since I was in staff there's just a google form you add +1 / -1 on depending on whether you think they're a good fit. You have to option to voice your opinion if you want to argue in favour or against someone getting staff

It's not like +supports are taken into consideration at all anyway, this is just a repost of what Reznov said in like 2016

All staff Moderator+ vote on staff Apps, TMODs are allowed to give their opinion too,

You aren't voted initially on staff, you are voted on obtaining advisor, which gives you barely anything, besides a small responsibility, after 2 weeks you are voted on again for TMOD access.

If you pass advisor stage and get TMOD, you are then a learner staff and are as that till your promoted to Moderator.

We do actually take the communities reaction to peoples applications as a good sign, and we usually talk about it in our meetings.
Vote do actually mean something, just a little bit tho.

Popular folks/Loud folks will be selected more as they have more personality, so people know who they are/what they are like, like anything when applying for positions, time and influence remain top.

The following Website Suggestion has been Denied.
The voting system is used only as a small guide to what the communities feel about a suggestion/application is. At the end of the day staff are basing their votes more off of the comments etc in the post and their view on the suggestion/application over what the vote at the side is.
